In Minecraft, foxes are passive mobs, which commonly spawn in taiga, giant tree taiga, and snowy taiga biomes, usually in groups of two, three or four. A small percentage of these spawn as babies, but most foxes spawn as adults. Although behaviour is standardised across all types, foxes that spawn from a snowy biome will have white fur.
Interestingly, some Minecraft foxes also spawn holding items and this can make it tempting to approach. The only problem with this is foxes are naturally extremely skittish and will run away from the player character as you get near. About Foxes and Their Behaviour.
Foxes are nocturnal mobs in Minecraft, which you may encounter in forests, where they commonly spawn, or in villages, which they move to at night. You may be tempted to approach them for a number of reasons, including their tendency to hold items in their mouths, but the problem here is they will naturally flee as you approach.
For this reason, to get close to a fox in Minecraft, you will need to sneak. With that being said, you can tame foxes and get them to trust you and once you do, they are loyal and will even attack the mobs that attack you.
Using Sweet Berries on Foxes.

If you have encountered a fox and you want to approach, you will need to use the sneak action. With that being said, more meaningful interactions will also require you to make use of the sweet berries item. All foxes in Minecraft eat Sweet Berries or Glow Berries, so feeding them to a fox will help to make it tame.
You will be able to see if the fox has received the sweet berries item easily enough, because a heart will be displayed over its head. After feeding a fox enough berries, it will become tame and will trust you instead of running away from you. Aside from helping to protect you, friendly foxes may also bring you items from time to time.
Breeding Two Foxes in Minecraft.
The process for taming foxes in Minecraft can also be used to help foxes to procreate. If you follow the basic instructions provided – sneaking up to a fox and feeding it a sufficient amount of sweet berries – and do this for two different foxes that are in close proximity to one another, there is a good chance they will breed, producing a baby fox.
This is especially significant when it comes to taming foxes, because any baby fox born in this way will automatically be born tame and will trust your character. Therefore, if your aim is to get as many tame, trusting foxes as possible, the best approach will be to encourage foxes to breed and produce naturally-trusting baby foxes.
If a red fox is bred with a snowy fox, the resulting baby has a 50% chance of being either red or snowy colored.
Having a tame fox, or more foxes, with you, is helpful as they will attack mobs that attack you.

Stop Baby Foxes From Escaping.
So now you have successfully bred two foxes and produced a naturally-trusting baby fox, which means it will not run away as you approach. However, despite this, some players may encounter situations where a baby fox appears to be fleeing anyway. Fortunately, there is a good explanation for this behaviour, and a good solution too.
While baby foxes in Minecraft are naturally trusting of the player, they primarily follow nearby adult foxes. Therefore, if adult foxes flee from your character, the baby fox may follow them. The best solution here is to use the lead item, which will prevent the baby fox from running away. Once a tame fox is fully grown, this will no longer be necessary.

- Four String
- One Slimeball
How to tame and breed foxes in Minecraft:
Once you have berries, and a lead, find a group of foxes, then:
- Sneak up on the foxes , when they are sleeping.
- Trap the foxes with fences or walls. Connect them.
- Give a sweet berry to a fox.
- Give a sweet berry to a second fox.
- Wait for them to breed.
- Attach the lead to the baby fox.
- Walk away.
You can also build a fence around your foxes, or fence them in with water.
