Aka MS Remoteconnect.

Aka MS Remoteconnect (https://aka.ms/remoteconnect) is a website that allows you to connect to other devices via your Microsoft account. More specifically, it is a web portal, which allows for Minecraft crossplay on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One / Series X / Series S consoles.

You may need to make use of Aka MS Remoteconnect if you are attempting to play Minecraft on PlayStation or Nintendo Switch; especially if you are attempting to use the crossplay feature, which allows you to play online with other users, even if they are playing Minecraft on a different console or platform.

Understanding the Aka MS Remoteconnect Error Message.

The aka.ms/remoteconnect error is associated with Minecraft and is most commonly encountered when playing on a PlayStation or Nintendo Switch console, such as the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, or Nintendo Switch Lite. The error occurs because, for Minecraft cross platform purposes, an active Xbox Live account is needed.

Https://Aka.ms/remoteconnect Minecraft Error Fix
When you encounter this screen, copy and paste your unique Code, and head to https://aka.ms/remoteconnect.

Xbox Live can be accessed for free using any standard Microsoft account. For this reason, to enable crossplay, your device will need to be able to access your Microsoft account. This may then lead to the remote connect error message being displayed. It should read as follows:

“Signing in to a Microsoft Account will permanently associate it with your current account for “Playstation Network” (or Nintendo Switch, Xbox). If you are already using an existing Microsoft Account to access Minecraft on another device, you may use that account. You can only do this once per account on “PlayStation Network”, so please choose your Microsoft Account carefully.

Visit this website on another device: https://aka.ms/remoteconnect.

And enter this code: ______”

There will be additional text too, but the exact wording will depend on the device you are using. The code that is displayed on the screen at the end of the message can be entered here: https://aka.ms/remoteconnect.

Why Am I Seeing the Aka MS Remoteconnect Error?

There are two main instances where you may encounter the Aka MS Remoteconnect error. The first is when you attempt to use Minecraft’s crossplay features for the first time on your device, if it is not already associated with a Microsoft account. This is likely to occur when you play the game on PlayStation, Nintendo or other non-Microsoft devices.

The second reason this error might show up is because of a recent change of device. For example, if you switch from using an Xbox console to a PlayStation console, or from a PlayStation console to a Nintendo console.

How Can I Fix the Aka MS Remoteconnect Error?

There are a number of possible ways to fix the Aka MS Remoteconnect error when it is displayed and the exact fix will depend on your individual circumstances. The first thing to know is that you will need a Microsoft account. If you do not already have one, you should sign up for a free account at: https://account.microsoft.com/, or directly at https://signup.live.com/.

From there, click on ‘Create a Microsoft Account’ and follow the instructions. Creating a new account can also resolve the error in situations where there is a conflict between the device you are using and your current Microsoft account.

Microsoft Minecraft Account - Aka ms remoteconnect
Signing up for a Microsoft Live account for Minecraft only takes a few minutes, and is free. You do not need an Microsoft Outlook or Hotmail email address. You can easily use an existing Gmail or Yahoo Mail account to create your Microsoft Live account with.

If you already have a Microsoft account and the message on-screen is asking you to enter a code on the Aka MS Remoteconnect website, simply visit https://aka.ms/remoteconnect and enter the code, as requested, in the box provided. Click on the ‘Next’ button and you should be able to connect your Microsoft account to your device.

Https://Aka.ms/remoteconnect Minecraft Code
Please note, that the https://aka.ms/remoteconnect website will automatically re-direct you to the https://login.live.com/oauth20_remoteconnect.srf Microsoft Code page. It should look like this screenshot. Enter your unique code, and click on “Next”.

For instances where neither of those fixes worked, you may be dealing with corrupted game data. It is important to try the other fixes first, because the fix for this involves deleting your game data, meaning your progress will be lost. If you do need to do this, you can do so from System Settings > Storage > Game Storage > Minecraft.

Is the Aka MS Remoteconnect Website Safe to Use?

MS Remoteconnect is completely legitimate and safe to use. The URL for the page follows a common format for web addresses on the Microsoft website and is intended to keep it short and make it more memorable. It actually redirects to the following URL: https://login.live.com/oauth20_remoteconnect.srf.

The web page is hosted on the Microsoft website and it is a service offered by Microsoft to enable crossplay.

Do You Need a Microsoft Account to Play Minecraft?

A Microsoft account is not needed to play Minecraft on most devices, although the Java version of Minecraft and any version associated with a Microsoft or Windows device is likely to require one too. With that being said, if you want to use the crossplay option on another device, such as a PlayStation or Nintendo Switch, you will need a Microsoft account.

There are a number of reasons for this Microsoft account requirement. The first is because Mojang Studios, the company that developed Minecraft, is now owned by Microsoft via its Xbox Game Studios subsidiary. Additionally, ensuring all crossplay users have a Microsoft account can also improve security and safety features for the game’s online modes.

I Am Having Problems With the Aka MS Remoteconnect Website.

If you run into difficulties when using the remote connect service, there are a few things to try. If the page is not loading, you should try to ascertain whether the problem is with the website itself, or with your internet connection. The best way to do this is to try to load another page. If it loads, you know your own connection is working.

It is possible that the service may be down due to maintenance, or high traffic volume. This is not a common problem, however, and it should resolve itself fairly quickly, so simply return to the website a few minutes later.

If the website is loading properly and you are entering the code, but it is failing to connect to your device, the main solution here will be to double check that you have definitely entered the code correctly. You need to enter the code exactly as it is diplayed on the screen connected to your games console. Make sure you have not accidentally made any typing errors, such as using the letter ‘O’ when the number ‘0’ is needed, and vice versa.

Also, if you Copy/Paste the code, make sure you do not include any extra empty ‘spaces’.

Should you continue to experience issues, you could try contacting customer support.

How to Set Up an Xbox One / Series X / Series S for Minecraft Crossplay.

Microsoft’s Xbox consoles are the easiest consoles to set up crossplay with, because the main obstacle to crossplay is the connection of the console to a Microsoft account with Xbox Live. For Xbox owners, this is not an issue, because they will already have an active Microsoft account with Xbox Live in order to use the console.

If you have recently purchased an Xbox and do not yet have an account, you can create one during the initial console set up process. Alternatively, you can also create an account at: https://account.microsoft.com/

Once this is done, make sure you have Minecraft installed on your Xbox and then start it up. Once the game loads, you should be ready to enjoy the various benefits associated with Minecraft crossplay.

How to Set Up a PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5 for Minecraft Crossplay.

To make use of the crossplay feature for Minecraft on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, you will need to own the console, the game and a second internet-enabled device that can browse the world wide web. You will also need to have an active Microsoft account. If you do not currently have one, you can sign up at: https://account.microsoft.com/

You will also need to make sure your PlayStation console is connected to the internet. If you do not currently own Minecraft, you can buy the digital edition from the PlayStation Store on your console.

Once you have all of these things in place, open Minecraft on your console. From within the game, you will find the option to sign in to your Microsoft account, complete with an on-screen explanation about the benefits of doing so. As you advance, the game will request that you visit: https://aka.ms/remoteconnect.

You will need to visit this URL on a separate device, such as a desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile. After the web page loads, enter the number that is displayed on your PlayStation console’s screen into the field provided and click ‘Next’. Follow the instructions and you should successfully connect your Microsoft account to your PlayStation.

At the end of this, you should see a screen that confirms that your Xbox Live profile is connected to Minecraft. Once this is the case, you can make use of the crossplay features to play Minecraft with users on different platforms.

How to Set Up a Nintendo Switch for Minecraft Crossplay.

The Nintendo Switch crossplay configuration process is similar to the PlayStation consoles, and you will again need to connect it to your Microsoft account first. The Nintendo Switch does not have a built in web browser, so you will also need another internet-enabled device that you can use during the setup process.

As with both the Xbox and PlayStation, you will need to have the Minecraft game installed on your console and your Switch must be connected to the internet. You will also need a Microsoft account, and you can register for one for free using the following link: https://account.microsoft.com/

Launch the game and you should be presented with an option to link your Xbox Live account, which in essence means linking your Microsoft account to your Nintendo Switch device. A code should be displayed on the screen. Visit the remote connect URL at https://aka.ms/remoteconnect and enter the code in the field provided.

Click ‘Next’, follow the instructions and you should see a confirmation message, indicating that the link between your Nintendo Switch and your Microsoft account was successful. At this point, the process is complete and you will be able to enjoy the benefits of crossplay, such as playing with any friends who use other systems.

How to Create or Join Crossplay Minecraft Games.

Once your device has been set up properly to work with Minecraft’s crossplay feature, the procedure you need to follow to create a crossplay game will be the same, regardless of which platform you are playing on.

From the main menu, select the ‘Play’ option, then go to the ‘Worlds’ tab and select ‘Create New World’. Then move to the multiplayer section and make sure the option for multiplayer is selected. Assuming it is, choose to ‘Create’ and your new world should be created, complete with the option for others to join you on a crossplay basis.

You can also use the crossplay feature to join a compatible Minecraft world that someone else has created. To do this, boot up the game and select the ‘Play’ option from the main menu. Then, navigate to the ‘Friends’ tab. From there, you should see a list of the various games that are available for you to join. This list may be organised in a slightly different way, depending on whether you are using a PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo console.

Regardless, use the options listed to select your chosen game and you will be able to join.
