Yes, Apex Legends is now cross platform enabled.
It has been a long time in the works, but Apex Legends crossplay has finally been added to the game. Now Apex Legends is cross platform enabled on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Below, we have described how Apex Legends crossplay works, and if cross progression is possible.
How do I enable Apex Legends crossplay?
You can now play Apex Legends with friends no matter the platform that they are using; Xbox One, Switch, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and PC. To add your friends on other platforms, simply open up the ‘Friends Menu’, on the lobby screen, and type in your friend’s in-game name in the “Find Friends” section. Then, just select your friend on the correct platform, when you have found him.
Apex Legends crossplay will not work if you are playing by yourself. If you are playing solo, you will be matched with players on the same platform. If a combat party consists of only PC players, then they will be matched with PC players only. The same goes for console players, who’ll only be matched with fellow console players.
Apex Legends Crossplay is set as default, but you can also turn Apex crossplay completely off.
How do I turn off Apex Legends crossplay?
To turn off Apex Legends crossplay, go to your settings (the cog symbol at the bottom right of the main menu). Then select ‘Disable crossplay’.
The option to turm off crossplay is only available to console players, at the moent of writing. PC players cannot turn off Apex Legends crossplay yet.
DOES APEX LEGENDS CROSS-PROGRESSION EXIST?
Sadly Apex Legends does not have cross-progression at this time. This means, even if you have accounts on console and PC, you won’t be able to transfer your stats and cosmetics.
As such, you’re going to want to make sure you buy any skins on your main account.
Cross progression lets players connect their accounts across platforms. This gives people the ability to seamlessly access their unlocked content from one device to the next, and means you don’t have to start a new account for each.
The feature has been somewhat applied to Apex Legends, giving community members a taste of how convenient it could actually be in its application.
Does Apex Legends have cross-progression?
At the moment, cross-progression is not possible in Apex Legends., so you will not be able to transfer your stats, skins and cosmetics. So make sure that you buy skins on your main account.
Cross progression is the function that lets players connect their accounts across other platforms, whisch means that they can access unlocked content from one device to another, save their progress, and do not have to start a new account for each platform.
Players on PC can link their account to Steam, however, and carry progress over from Origin to Apex Legends. But there is no way to transfer your account between PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
When is cross progression coming to Apex Legends?
Respawn, the develober, has spoken about cross progression on a number of occasions, saying “I wouldn’t ever say cross-progression is not possible, but it’s certainly more challenging to add cross-progression to a game that’s been out for 2 years”, adding “But, we are working on it. It is a lot more work than I thought it would be. But we are working on cross-progression that will allow people to carry over purchases, skins, account progress, regardless of which platform they’re playing on.”
